Get ready for an overdose of Southern Utah. The sand dunes of the desert are always calling. Even if it’s freezing cold and possibly snowing. The Coral Pink sand dunes and Sand Hollow are surrounded by rock cliffs and walls of Navajo sandstone in every shade of red imaginable, layered with white and black from ancient lava flows. Hop on one of the the trails and discover shifting sand dunes, mysterious lava caves, and desert plants.
Getting There — From Zion National Park, take Utah 9 east to U.S. 89, turn right (south) and continue to the park entrance road. From downtown Kanab, go about 8 miles north on U.S. 89, then southwest (left) on Hancock Road for about 12 miles to get to the park.
